Our Plan is to take plastic bags made of HDPE plastic and melt them down into 3D printer filaments for use in a 3D printer. We chose HDPE because it is very common and takes a long time to decompose in the environment. We chose to dive into 3D printing filaments because 3D printing is an up-and-coming industry that is being used everywhere more and more frequently.
The Filastruder is a filament making machine that will melt plastic pellets of any kind into a usable filament. It is fairly simple to operate: you put plastic pellets no larger than 5mm into the hopper, set the Filastruder to the proper temperature for your plastic, and wait for it to melt, and extrude out of a 1.75 diameter nozzle, which is the most common size of most filaments and their printers.
